Cancellation and refunds

What happens to reservations, work, holds, and charges when plans change.

Time-only appointments

A personal time reservation is free to reserve and does not itself authorize a charge. Use its private management link to reschedule or cancel. A separately accepted marketplace task or invoice has its own payment record; canceling time does not falsely mark an already paid invoice refunded. We do not synchronize external calendars, so update imported events as needed.

Before work and funding

You may withdraw a private draft or cancel an unmatched request. No automatic cancellation fee applies. A payment method on file is not a charge. If only some team authorizations succeeded, TASK reconciles and cancels them before a replacement funding attempt. A bank may continue displaying a canceled hold while it processes the release.

Accepted or started work

Cancel promptly and explain changes. Work already performed within the agreed scope may be payable; do not assume that canceling erases earned compensation. Unperformed shares are canceled or refunded as appropriate, with evidence and an agreed or lawful resolution for partial work. There is no automatic charge for a claimed no-show or inaccessible property. Relevant conduct is reviewed separately from an ordinary cancellation or platform error.

Changes and replacement

Additional scope, a different price, or materially changed timing needs approval before work proceeds. Replacements stay within the same approved whole-task maximum, counting earned and retained shares. If safe original work cannot continue and a change is not accepted, resolve the performed and unperformed portions explicitly. No party must perform unsafe or unlicensed work.

Holds and refunds

Uncaptured authorizations are canceled, not described as refunded charges. Refunds apply to captured amounts and identify the relevant seller allocation. An approved refund request is not proof the processor completed it or that the bank posted it. Failed or uncertain operations are reconciled with the original identity before retry. A successful payment for completed work is not automatically reversed because another provider's payment failed.

Review and issues

Report incomplete or disputed work on the task page during the displayed review opportunity. An open issue pauses automatic release. The 48-hour release process is not a waiver of later statutory rights or a bank dispute deadline. Do not wait for an informal process if urgent relief or a legal deadline requires action. The Disputes policy explains evidence, decisions, and appeals.

Invoices and outside payments

Only one active obligation may collect for the same agreed work. An unpaid invoice must be reconciled and canceled before replacing it with marketplace funding, and existing funding must be reconciled before issuing a replacement invoice. Partial or unknown payment requires review. A cash/Zelle entry is a seller's external record and does not make Square's invoice paid or refunded. Mandatory consumer remedies remain available.
